Duke University Hospital (DUH)
Consistently ranked as one of the top hospitals by U.S.News & World Report, the 1,000-bed Duke University Hospital is a tertiary and quaternary care hospital and Level I trauma center. On its 210 acres, it houses comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic facilities that serve a multistate region, drawing patients routinely from the Carolinas, eastern Tennessee, southern Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. Many of its programs also attract patients from other national and international sites. The main hospital is complemented by a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center situated two blocks away. Durham Veterans Administration Hospital (DVAMC)
This 274-bed general medical and surgical facility is located just across the street from Duke Hospital. The DVAMC provides general and specialty medical, surgical, psychiatric inpatient, and ambulatory services and is a major referral center for veterans in North Carolina, southern Virginia, northern South Carolina, and eastern Tennessee. In this capacity, the DVAMC accommodates veterans from these regions with complex urology needs.
Asheville Veterans Administration Hospital (AVAH)
The Asheville VA Medical Center is a tertiary care, 112-bed acute care facility located in western North Carolina. Asheville VA operates a separate 120-bed Extended Care and Rehabilitation Center, serving the western North Carolina area and portions of South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. Duke Raleigh Hospital (DRaH)
This is a 148-bed general medical and surgical hospital in Raleigh. The Duke Raleigh rotation provides residents with a community-based urological surgery experience. This hospital has five full-time urology faculty providing general community care, reconstructive urology, robotics, oncology, and BPH specialty care.
Duke Children’s Hospital
Duke Children’s Hospital is one of the top children’s hospitals “within a hospital” in the nation and ranked in the top 20 consistently by U.S. News and World Report in all 10 specialties (including pediatric urology). The children’s intermediate care wards and ICUs (pediatric, bone marrow transplant and cardiac) are located on the first four floors of the Duke Central Tower. The pediatric emergency department and level 3 intensive care nursery are adjacent in Duke University Hospital.
