Specific responsibilities of fellow: This is a clinical fellowship. The fellow will work in the clinic two days a week gaining experience in the evaluation, diagnosis and management of patients with all issues related to cancer survivorship. Two-to-three days a week will be spent in the operating room with specific training in surgical skills needed to care for these patients. Every third week of the month there is time provided for research. Research is focused on clinical outcomes and human and animal based research related to the care of the cancer survivor.
Case mix and research experience: Two-to-three days a week the fellow will work individually with Dr. Peterson and Dr. Lentz in clinic weekly gaining experience in the initial evaluation and long-term care of patients referred for all survivorship issues in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Time will be split between clinics at the Duke Urology outpatient clinic, Duke Cancer Institute, and the Duke Raleigh Medical Center.
Two-to-three days a week are spent in the operating room with time split between cases at the Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center, Duke University Hospital operating room, and Duke Raleigh Medical Center for the experience with Dr. Aaron Lentz in reconstruction and penile prostheses implantation.
The fellow will participate in the Duke Faculty call schedule. Call will be approximately 3-4 weeks per year.
