Residents Regularly Benefit from Teaching Sessions in SEAL Laboratory

Duke Urology residents and fellows recently had an exciting day in the Duke Surgical Education and Activities Lab (SEAL). Participants included Joseph (Quinn) McDaniels (resident), Alireza Ghoreifi (fellow), Jabez Gondokusumo (resident), and Thomas J Polascik (faculty). Additionally, residents Austin Livingston, Ian Berger, Nick Sarantos, Rafael Tua-Caraccia, and Thomas Schroeder participated in the session.

As Director of Urologic Robotic Surgery, Dr. Polascik finds it very rewarding to train the next generation of urologists and creates these invaluable hands-on opportunities in the SEAL lab so residents and fellows can practice robotic surgical skills including assisting, suturing, instrument handling, and basic dissection techniques, while also learning troubleshooting tips and robotic device/instrument management.
