O. Lenaine Westney, MD, FACS, UPRS, Professor of Urology and Urinary Tract and Pelvic Reconstruction Fellowship Director at MD Anderson Cancer Center at the McGovern Medical School at University of Texas-Houston, was the 2024 Victor Politano Lecturer.
Her featured lecture on February 9 was titled “Management and Prevention of Urologic Complications in Non-Genito-urinary Malignancies.” The day prior, she spoke to the Department on “Women in Academic Urology: Successes and Opportunities.”
Dr. Westney is a pioneer and one of only four African-American female full professors of urology in the U.S. Duke Urology graduate Divya Ajay (2018) did her fellowship under Dr. Westney in Houston and is following a similar path as a reconstructive urologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York.
